P0172 Error code EU Honda S2000

Post by CruiseVtec »

Hi,
this error occurred few day ago. My map runs on my car since one year, and actual datalog show an AFR of 10 (more or less) at full throttle (very rich). So data seem coerhent with error message "system too rich (bank 1)".
This error occurred after my lastest Hondata update to v1.6.3 and an upload of the map to the car.
I noticed that sometimes Flashpro_manager after this update do not read hondata well... this is evident when I click on flashpro windows, where I should read maps on the hondata and datalog recordered. Sometimes I do not read anything... and I must reboot the program and control USB cable...
I told you all this thing to let you know every things happened after my lastest update.

One think more, to check if the problem was related to my map, I returned ecu to stock... but the error appeared again...

Help

thanks

The latest FlashProManager version is 1.7.2

If you get the error after returning to stock then is a problem with the fuel system, but I think you should upload again using 1.7.2 and post the calibration and a datalog.

Hi,
I did some extensive datalog, here you have a plot of some runs. What it is quite surprising for me is how AFR is around 10 but, when car enter open loop, it rises to collapse again to 10 at different high rev (depending on runs).

In attachment plot and datalog.

The fuel is a long way off (20-25%). It's running closed loop under full load at times; I suspect that your WOT compensation tables are over 12.5:1, but can't tell without a calibration.

Calibration is not mine, if I attach calibration here, it remains private or public?
Sorry for question.
Still, I have a doubt about this map (but another one seems to show same problem, I could provide datalogs) that at their first calibration, they do not face with this AFR collapse. it seems that during time, I don't know if for wether condition or so on, this problem appears.

Below you can see a datalog of one year ago. Map behind is the same of the upper graph. Have a look at the yellow AFR (red one is the stock equivalent), it appears very different. What happened? Why now It collapses to 10 before 4000 rpm and somewhere over 7000-8000 rpm?

Does the ecu adjusts dinamically the map to meet driving style, whether condition or so on?

You could send the calibration to support@hondata.com. The fuel needs tuning. There's no point trying to diagnose fuel problems when the tuning is so far off.

The fuel tuning a way off (long term trim is -17%). This is why you are getting the error.

There's not much point expanding the load columns as you have done - I'd set them back to stock.

Zero out the water temperature ignition retard table.

Thanks,
I'll do some modification, but why map was good 1 year ago and now it results too rich? Wouldn't be a problem of Hondata new update?

Between versions we have not changed anything that would cause the fuel to change.

Map was ok. The problem was related to a flashpro manager update which showed a different view of fuel pressure. Particullary while "Stock Fuel Pressure" had a default value of 425, "Current Fuel Pressure" was 300. This setting caused the ECU to increase the injector pulse width by about 40%! Corrected Curreny Fuel Pressure to 425 all problems disappeared.

Can you send us the (original) calibration?

FYI, this is exactly what was happening with my client's Euro S2000, which turned out to be due to the issue I posted about here. The fix should be to change the "Current Fuel Pressure" in the fuel settings to 425 instead of 300.

EDIT: I just noticed that you already figured this out...
