CPR help needed
we have been having issues with the car with the cpr installed while trying to tune.
starting it is also an issue it seems to not want to catch, and backfires quite a bit then it will eventually catch and run like its not recognizing the tooth to fire on. we keep getting error code 9 that is a TDC code.
the car reaches 7000rpm and starts to miss.
I had the cps, and wiring harness at my tuners shop, and he went right off the instructions to tap the cpr's harness into the rywire harness.
any ideas on what might be going on???

Re: CPR help needed
yes he took the brand new rywire harness and the cpr harness and soldered the cpr into the rywire harness.
no t-taps were used
the tdc code is what we are more confused on than anything else along with the backfire while just trying to start the car. the tuner said its like its not trying to fire on the correct tooth

Re: CPR help needed
If you remove the CPR will it run properly with just the distributor?

this i didnt try we just took my car to the hondata system over the aem, and everything was setup for the cpr so i couldnt tell you if it does or not on a dizzy only.
and i have to travel 160 miles to my tuner one way.
let me ask you this my dizzy i bought new, and probly isnt an oem one since i did get it off ebay could this be an issue also since its possbiel that OEM parts/sensors were not used in it???

Re: CPR help needed
That is always a possibility. Aftermarket distributors are not known for being reliable or of high quality.

Re: CPR help needed
The only other possibility is the wiring, but since you aren not dealeing with a stock harness it is really hard to know if that is the issue.

Re: CPR help needed
i have one more thing to try my coils might not be seating all the way down against the plug causing spark jump and grounding out on the valve cover. this may not be an issue at lower rpms, but when in the higher rpm and more spark i could see it.
i need to try the coils down to being round so they fit the holes better for sure.

Re: CPR help needed
after further research i found out that i had d17 coils, and am hoping this was my issue.
will the s2000 coils work with this system

Re: CPR help needed
The plug is probably the same, but they may be too long. We have the recommended part numbers in the helpfile: http://www.hondata.com/help/cpr/welcome_topic.htm

Re: CPR help needed
i bought the rywire adapter plate that allows the use of the k series or the s2000 coils so I should be fine there.
was the d17 coils an issue you think

ok my problem is solved it was the dizzy. it seemes the dizzy keyway wasnt ligning up correctly with the cam causing the shaft to move affecting the pick wich was throwing the sensor off.
new dizzy, and good to go

no problem this is how we can learn to diagnose things without having to pay someone to do it for us
