Hondalogger chip

If I wish to buy the hondalogger option for my 3b, all I do is add the Chip to the empty socket on the board right? I wouldnt have to send the hondata box out right?
i sent my hondata box out to get it done.
the package scanning from the 9/11 attacks include something that seems to be messing up the chips if they are sent out by themselves...
a few of my friends have had this problem. shipping it to hondata is just much easier
