Xdi pump fuel pressure.

Post by jpierro79 »

I see in the fuel pressure that the xdi pump mod settings ramps up pressure as rpm increases. I am aware that lower pressure means more volume to a point.
I do understand that lower pressure can increase volume.
Is there any other reason that the pressure is ramped up in this fashion?
Is there more load on the camshaft risking cam shaft damage by increasing the pressure to say 190mpa from 4000 to redline?

Any insight to the reasoning would be great thank you.

You would have to ask XDI the camshaft question.

With the pressure 'ramp', do you mean the actual pressure not following the target pressure?

The oem pump runs 200mpa from lower rpm.
The xdi pump is set to ramp pressure up as rpm increases.
Is there a reason for this besides keeping pump duty cycle lower at low rpm?

I’m asking before I raise the pressure at all. I was thinking maybe you set the pressure at 150mpa at 4000 on the xdi pump because fuel pulsation are larger due to the increased piston size in the hpfp.

Basically it ramps up from 150mpa at 4000 rpm to 193mpa 6000 rpm. Why?

So you mean the target fuel pressure tables for the XDI are lower than stock?

I believe that was to accommodate the XDI injectors. Again, questions you need to ask XDI.
