xdi pump with 1400cc injectors

Post by jamesszlatenyi »

Haven't seen anyone on here talk about this and if i could re do it all over again i would of just went with the hondata fuel system instead. Currently just finished install with of the pump and injectors. (injectors for the second time after being notified 1400cc is as high as you can go on hondata) After datalogging with setting overall fuel trim to compensate for the bigger injectors to -20 percent i noticed it seems at idle it you do see some spikes in fuel trims. The highest ive seen is a positive 9 ltft and a negative 15 stft. I have also included a datalog with a 4th gear pull and followed by a typical drive. in the typical drive is where you really see the movement. I did try and inspect for any visual vacuum leaks and cant see anything up top so i do plan to smoke test it. Just curious if this is typical with running the bigger injectors. I know before install i was peaking around 5 in fuel trims.

Current mods

PRL HIVI
PRL Intercooler and piping
PRL Titanium inlet pipe
PRL Catted downpipe
AWE Exhaust w/ revised mid pipe
DW300 fuel pump
xdi pump
4 piston 1400cc injectors

still running prl intercooler and dp tune with prl hvi and xdi checked.

We could not get the injectors to run consistently. The best you can do is lower the fuel pressure as much as you can at light throttle (20 bar or less) and use the overall trim to get the higher load areas to have a slightly negative fuel trim. But I still had some surge at cruise - it may not be a problem for some people.

in boost, you're having issues because your maf is too small

your lambda table is following a stock lambda table, the richer it gets the worse the corrections. Set your lambda aim to be 12.0-12.2 (MINE ARE A LITTLE LEANER) on all the tables where they would be in boost (above 170 airc and above 3500 or so rpm) and it helps tremendously with the swinging.. its commanding the afr to go lean and rich from the air charge putting the target in a different cell. (SEE YOURS WHICH IS VERY CHOPY AIM, THE EXMAPLE I POSTED ISNT)

Perform NC 1400cc injectors are great in many cars. Ive got 5 or so sets tuned all with different setups.

The injectors them selves are not an EVEN 20% fuel trim, this is where hondata is the limit as far as functionality. The fuel trim is only like 12% at idle pressure but at full power is some 20/22%. They have a slope that is more aggressive than stock and simple changing a universal fuel trim doesent quite cut it (but we have to)

You will need to take less fuel out at lower pressure and more fuel out at higher pressures. Adjust your maf in areas that are issues and it all but goes away in my experience.

Did you do your adjustment through all 3 lambda tables

yes, and watch your air charge in the log and on the table and make sure the cells dont hit another cell with a different lambda aim

Had everything all good till the other day when I had to take the car out of valet mode and there was an update from 3.8.0 to 3.8.4. Running the same exact tune after reflash fuel trims are not stable as they used to be. I read the notes and verified fuel trim and injector size. I have also tried changing the injector size to 1400cc and fuel trim 0 and that setting gives me the worst fuel trims. Have you noticed this?
