Connectivity Problem - Upload Failed

Post by FDub »

My laptop PC which is running Windows 10 Pro. I can connect to the ECU and download and datalog but I cannot upload a calibration. I tried clear security but still cannot upload. I get the message "Drivers Installed" and "Online" and "Ignition On".

Using a desktop PC running Windows 7, I managed to upload my calibration but needless to say this is not a convenient way of doing things.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software on my PC.

Has anyone any suggestions? It "feels" like there's something wrong with the way my machine is communicating via USB.

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading.

If you see 'Ignition On' then the USB is working just fine. What KPro do you have? What is the message when it does not upload?

Hi and thanks!

So, on the Kpro tab - see the following which might help answer your question.
KPro
Hardware
Version 3
Serial No. 10475
Firmware Version 3.01
Software Version 4.3.6.0
ECU Type PRA - Euro Civic Type R

When I try to upload, I do get the fuel pump priming and the loading message and then saving and the pump primes again and then I just get a message which says simply Upload Failed.

Is this a new KPro installation?

It looks like this was sold as an install kit to CPL Racing in the UK. You should contact them about this and have them test it as it could just be a installation issue.

Not a new install. It’s been in the car for four or five years as far as I know. I’ve owned it for nearly four.

Returning it to CPL wouldn’t be that convenient as I’m in Ireland and CPL are UK. Also, it’s only with my laptop I’m having the difficulty. My desktop PC was able to upload without a hitch. It’s just not that convenient to have to use a non-portable PC you’ll appreciate!

Your software is out of date. Try updating the software if it is working on a different computer. The software you are using is outdated.

Actually yes, you are (or were) correct. The data I called out above was from a screenshot I took while troubleshooting. I forgot that since then I uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm now running V 4.4.2.0 but still have the same issue.

If it is uploading ok from one computer but not from another then there appears to be some issue with either the operating system or the USB on the laptop.

Machine has been rebooted several times. Windows updates reports nothing to download.

I may have achieved a breakthrough however.

I connected to the ECU and, in device manager, I uninstalled the USB KPro ECU Editor and this caused laptop to crash
I tried again and crashed again
I tried again but this time disabled the device first and then uninstalled it
I rebooted
The device was recognized again but was giving me the same problem

I downloaded your USB driver pack and applied it
No change

I connected to the ECU again, disabled the USB KRro ECU editor device and then uninstalled it
I then closed the KPro Software
I manually deleted the driver sub-folder in the C:\Program folder
I then ran your Driver pack install again
Rebooted the laptop
Tried connecting
It took a number of attempts to get the drivers to install and for connection to be made
Once connection established and with ignition on I tied a Test Upload with Success
I then opened a saved calibration file and uploaded it with success and did this a few times with success

I will repeat the upload test over coming days and report back but for now it seems to be working again.

I'm sure the methods used are unorthodox but perhaps something can be learned.

Thanks for the assistance.
