VTEC troubleshooting through ECU?

Post by GI8U2racing »

The car is an 88 CRX HF with a JDM B18C5 on S300 with a P28 ECU.

Driving the car around earlier and while it was being tuned on the dyno, VTEC worked perfect. After swapping in a EDM Gauge cluster, now VTEC does not work anymore. As far as the new cluster is telling me, it's not throwing any codes. If I hook up the USB cord and hook it up to my laptop, will it tell me why VTEC is not engaging?

Datalogging and then looking at yoru datlogs will be the first step in you finding your problem. More than likely it is a problem with the speed sensor.

The tak is back! The guide I was following on H-T for the gauge cluster swap has the VSS output wrong, so the ECU wasn't getting the right signal. I just traced it on the back of the cluster and figured it out.
