Does it make a difference which ECU you use for the S300?

Post by hiperformance »

The question is regarding USDM ecu's and the S300.

Is there any difference between using a P72 or p28? Is there any advantage the p72 has over the p28 or any advantage the p28 has over the p72?

Thanks.

P72 has a knock daughter board, P28 does not.

Does a P28 from Hondata have circuitry for controlling IAB?

the P28 doesn't have the circuit integrated, but you can create the IAB output with the S300. for that you'll need a relais on the output to manage the current, that is needed to switch the IAB ;) it's explained in the help-file ;)

Knock is it. With a P72 you can record knock. Otherwise they do the same thing in every other way.

well, the knock-board is great when using a B16/18... but for other engines?

if you look what the knock-sensor is, you'll see some kind of microphone, which gets its signal out of the engineblock. my opinion is, that the behavior of the blocks is different, clearly: what the knock-sensor shows as a knocking for a B16, needn't be a knocking for a H22, for example.

and knocking cannot be exactly shown at high rpm, because it's simply too loud to egzamin a true or false value ;)

P72 has Knock Board & (stock wire) IAB control over P28.

So Spunkster,

If you were given a choice. Which ecu would you prefer to use with the S300?

if costs don't play a role: P72. same as P28, with some special extras. i prefer it, but it's almost double the price!
