“Non-techie” Q re: Std ap2 vs CR ECU to comp for 255/40 tire

Post by J44 »

Hi,

Stock 2007 S2K. USA CA. Installed 255/40 Star Specs <25" OD vs 24.7" OD OEM 245's>. Noticed a huge difference <loss> in "snappy" vtec performance.

Q: Does the CR model, the only one with "stock" 255 rears, have a different ECU that allows for these taller tires? I sorely miss the "on cam" sound <Fujitsubo>, and the now absent vtec snap.

Is this actually happening, and what is the fix?

Hope I didn't dazzle anyone with my high-tech Q:>)).

TIA

There is no difference in the ECU on the CR and standard model.

Spunkster...thanks for the reply. I guess the taller tires have made the difference in performance.

Just surprised the CR with the 255 rear tires does not have the identical performance characteristics of the standard AP2.

Perhaps another question: Have you had the opportunity to drive a std AP2, then jump into a stock CR for a quick spin? Did you perceive a discernible difference in the vtec response?

Actually, the car "feels" more drivable <less peaky>....but now also "feels" underpowered. SC will fix that:>).
