Kpro not connecting to laptop

Post by Adm_rsx »

Ok I have a kpro V4 upgraded around January last year.

2006 Rsx-S
Turbo

Kmanager 4.2.3 or the latest one out. Just recently swapped cams and wired in PLX wideband to chassis, no data logging wire to Ecu yet.

Tried to start my car on the old calibration and car wouldn't run without foot on the gas. Then my check engine light came on. So I rushed off to grab my laptop to see what the code was. Found out then that my Ecu wasn't connecting to my laptop. Started going through my list of things to do:

Reinstalled drivers
Tried different laptop
Added extra grounds around the engine and chassis
Checked resistance on grounds and injector ground

I pulled the kpro down from the factory Ecu mount to pull the cover and inspect the board to see if it was loose. So I tried the key on the inspect the green and red LED's while the cover was off.

My green LED comes on for a brief moment when the key is turned on but then goes off. And the red LED is very very faint when the datalog cable is plugged in.

Please help me. I feel I've done all I can and that there is an issue with the kpro

What happens with the ECU completely unplugged and you connect just the USB to the K-Pro. What shows up in the lower left hand corner of KManager?

It says

Driver installed, On Line, Ignition Off

Check your fuses as it sounds like there may be one blown. The K-Pro is detected and it is online, but it is not seeing the ignition switch being turned on, which usually means that the ECU is not powering up correctly.

Is that why the green LED only comes on briefly then goes off?

Do you happen to know which fuse may have popped and wether or not it's in the cabin or engine bay?

Oddly enough the fuel pump primes though.

I would suggest that you undo any wiring you have recently done and see if that resolves the issue.

When you changed the cams did you change the trigger wheels?

Ok I will undo it and try again.

When I swapped cams I did not change trigger wheels. The cams are straight out of the k24a2 with a 50* VTC

If I have the Ecu out of the car wouldn't I be able to upload a calibration or erase the Ecu?

Ok, so I tried my kpro into another Rsx with the same result. Still says:

drivers installed, on Line, ignition off.

I think something's wrong with the Ecu or the kpro board.
