Professional tune, very poor returns. Naive?

Post by DoctorUpal »

After various upgrades, I had my FA5 professionally tuned. I am really underwhelmed with the results. I wanted to get some feedback and see if I am being naive about expected gains or if I got a poor tune. Based on other posts with similar or fewer upgrades, I was expecting something in the ~215 whp range. Instead, I only hit 191.9 whp. Here is a parts list (dyno results attached):

1.) Takeda Cold Air Intake - aFe TA-1004B
2.) Grams 72mm throttle body - G09-05-0001
3.) Skunk2 intake manifold - 307-05-0325
4.) DC Sports header - HHC5524
5.) Invidia Cat-back exhaust - HS06HC4G3S

Thoughts?

I wasn't provided with a before graph, unfortunately. The tech said it was ~175 whp

Without anything to compare to it is really hard to say.

I understand that, but if everything was stock before, we know within a few whp what that would look like, correct?

it's not just about peak power. you have to look at the overall powerband

You have to be able to see what the change was, as all dynos read differently. You can really only make a comparison knowing what it was before and after.

Damnit. I knew there was some variation between dynos, but figured it wasn't a big deal. In retrospect, I feel like an idiot for not calling them out on the lack of a pre-upgrade dyno result.
