S2000 2007 AP2 Asia

Post by junxiangg »

Hi all,

I am having bad knocking issues on my Honda S2000 2007 Asia JDM model without VSC and cruise control.
I come from singapore and this is the specs.
I have uploaded the datalog for any kind soul reference on how to rectify because I have return the ECU to stock but the VSA is enabled and error codes will show.

Car is stock except a open pod air intake.

I have been trying to figure this out for the longest time.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post the calibration file you're driving on?

Thank you for the reply, I am using the stock map available for asia s2000. The one and only calibration.

Okay. The bulk of your knock is in one small area. I made some changes all over the ignition map, but mainly in the area where it had 90% of your knock. Take this one for a drive and see how it goes. It may need more removed, but we can creep up on it.

thank you. I have been figuring this out for 2 months and changed my spark plugs and giving up.

I am just curious why the stock map from hondata would result in such knocks?

Would try and thank you again!!

No problem. Once we remove most of the knock, we will bypass the knock retard tables so we can see the ignition without interference from the ECU. Then we can be sure there is no knock without ECU interference. Once all knock is removed, we'll turn it back on for you.

You might be running a lower octane fuel than the basemap was designed for. Every car is very different as well. It is hard to make a calibration perform well on multiple cars. Your car might react different than most, which is why we tune them.

Post up a datalog when you take that file for a drive and I'll take a look at it for you.

I thought about the possibility but all other s2000s in Singapore do not have this issue. I hope all these can be rectified. Mentally drained from all the engine knocks and spending time and money to restore this car.

I have uploaded the latest datalogged with your new calibration for me, adjusted the VSA and speed adjustment and other misc settings as my car has no VSA and cruise control at this link as the file is too big to be uploaded here.

I can't tell you how much i appreciate your help..

Still has quite a bit of knock, we'll keep working on it. Can you post your calibration you're running so I can make the changes to your file? That way we can keep tweaking on it and you don't have to keep adjusting things in the background.

What octane fuel do you have there?

Hi,

The calibration file is in the same link in the previous reply.

I am running RON 98 octane. It is the highest octane available in my country ( Singapore ).

Well after looking it over some more it looks like you might be having some type of noise causing a false knock, or some type of mechanical issue going on. It is registering knock at 10* of ignition in some parts which seems pretty low ignition to see knock. One issue as well is your intake air temps are constantly very high. Somewhere in the 120*F up to the mid 140*F which could be cause for some of the knock as well.

I made a few changes to the ignition map on this one. We will see if it helps some, but I'm afraid it's not going to remove all the knock. You may end up having to try to find someone local who can look at it and confirm the knock is real of false.

Give this one a drive and we'll see if it helps.

Can you swap the fully enclosed stock intake back on for a test? I have heard a report of a user fixing his 'false knock' issue by switching back to a stock airbox.

That mIght have been me, but I neglected to follow-up and say that it was only temporary. Long story short, I had my head rebuilt and now the false knock (99% of which was from cyl #2) is gone. My first valve adjustment was at ~60,000 miles, but in hindsight, it should have been done much sooner for our '06+ AP2s. The damage from tight exhaust valves may have already been done by the time that I tried to intervene.
