Intermittent Engine Overheat code 11

Post by TurboTeg332 »

S300 keep getting check engine light engine overheat code 11.

When i shut car off and turn it back on the code is gone, so it does not stay on after shutting car off and then driving it again.

Every time have this code now the engine temperature is fine and there is no steam or anything like that, not sure why keeps throwing code 11.

Coincidentally also been not accelerating smooth at highway speeds at part and full throttle.

If you go into boost before the engine is a normal operating temp does it throw code 11 ?

What temp do you have set for an overheating temp?

Have you datalogged when this is actually happening to see what the temps are doing when it says it is overheating?

You mean in this area the same area cold boost cut is ?

The boost cut menu the cold/hot temperature was set at 150 degrees and changed it to 199 high as it would go.

Is this the setting you are talking about?

No, it is in the Protection section of Parameters.

Checked under protection parameter it is set at 212 F.

However the boost cold/hot temperature was set at 150 F *(changed it to 199 F) and when check engine light would go off it would cut the boost and would have the rpm freeze.

Boost cut parameter cold/hot temp setting do not understand why is it cold/hot why not just hot temp setting there ?

YOu need to datalog when this happens and see what the actual temp is. You may need to raise the overheating temp.

The protection parameter is set at 212 F but the boost cut cold/hot was set at 150.

Also it was freezing and cutting boost when CEL came on so would that not mean that the cold/hot boost temp was too low?

Under protection parameters it wont let me raise overheat temp higher than 212 F which is when water boils right ?

Try setting it to 220 for an overheating temp.

I will try adjusting the protection overheat higher.

But what about the boost cut temp is it ok for it to be at 150 F ??

That has nothing to do with this.

I set the temperature overheat to 225. It usually takes few days to get to throw CEL code but I did data log this tonight which may help.

The car on display setting shows temperature in red if its over 200 F it appears. Not sure if it thinks maybe it is overheating when its actually not?
I have also noticed that whenever it is at part or full throttle in boost but not at full boost it seems to not accelerate smoothly but acts like its stumbling while the rpm is increasing. Maybe this is unrelated to overheat error code since thats only code it keeps throwing.
I have had it throw about 10 codes at once but has not done that in several months.

Refer to datalog did few full boost runs at one point I thought blew off a boost pipe it would only pressurize 3-5 psi at most then all of sudden it built boost up fine. Maybe this is unrelated but seems it would be computer issue if it behaved normally after it would not build boost.

I just figured out today that the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator to manifold was broken and falling off I suspect this was cause of being able to build boost yesterday then suddenly it would only build 3-5 psi max.

Attached below is the calibration.
